Lagoon at dawn

1 min read
Hello.

I've spent the past week trying to find a spare moment to look over a batch of photos I took at dawn last weekend. Unfortunately, such time hasn't manifested in the given set of the past eight days. However, I know for a fact that I have quite a few amazing images to share and that I will eventually get a moment to post a few @ DA.

The subject in most shots is a lagoon with massive pink crystals of salt attached to trees, fence posts and various protrusions. I managed to throw a few filters on the lens and also do a few long(er) exposures.

I guess this is more of a FYI entry than a regular incoherent journal entry.

Blaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaah!

Dear Fellow Deviants,

I'd like to spread the good word by way of partial explanation and whole apology (in the likelihood of a remainder, I'd like to donate it and a plastic trinket to the caring among you on behalf of the Seasonally Adjusted Wordage Remainders pertaining to the functioning members of the Wordsmith Association of Australia) of the ins and outs of my life during the past month or so.

If you're likely to be interested in being rubbed up the right way with unusual combinations lodged betwixt consonant and vowel* then consider the urge to read on as having been issued. If you're inclined to be persuaded by alternative leanings, perhaps one involving benevolence or something far more sinister such as apathy, then the probability that your eyes have passed through this region is surely somewhere between unbloodylikely and pah!

To the crux: I'm in the final week of a wave of four at a different place of employ to my regular one. The experience itself has been borderline traumatic and at the same time challenging, in the way that scuba diving on top of a donkey in a field of corn is challenging; I was initiated into a method of teaching English as a second language that mainly involved me standing at the front of the class - speaking in English, oddly enough - while students, whom I assumed were the ones I was supposed to be teaching,  conversed to one another eloquently in their native Chinese tongue. After their initial shock of realising that I wasn't their regular teacher but a balder and less tolerant version of someone whom I couldn't compare myself to, everything kind of fell into place.

Meanwhile, I've been so engrossed in my own family of late, with the main culprit and defiant leader to the tune of paramount importance being time spent with them, that I've fallen in love with the notion of photographing them and them only. This venture, I might add, has prevented me from throwing curious eyes onto any of my fellow Deviants' artistic pursuits, for which I am truly sorry.

The title promised there'd be at least one instance of chest thumping so here goes...

Thump!

Greetings from me to you.

I would like to know how to post thumbnail images to my journal entries. If you are endowed in this area and if you are able to explain how I may do this remarkable feat in terms that a three-year-old would understand, could you please leave a comment.

Thanking you in advance for your help.

As the hand did turn to the united front of twelve midnight, the wife and the daughter did stir.

Kisses were exchanged as were hugs and low-flying eyelids, until the new day was all but two minutes old.

The most rewarding sleep in a month ensued thanks to a secret resolution by the youngest of the clan; parents were awoken only the thrice instead of the contractually obliged quadruple.

When eventually they did get out of bed sans haste at the ripe old time of thirty chasing nine, everything seemed strangely normal.

The same as it ever was.

Here's to you and your loved ones  :ahoy:. May 2007 bring you the happiness and comforts that you so richly deserve.

About a girl...

To all our family, friends and DA watchers (aka lurkers), my wife, daughter and I would like to extend our heartfelt appreciation for your kind words via breath and via email where you've shown support and showered us with congratulations during the past week.

Let me be the first to point out that it was our pleasure (nudge, nudge, wink, wink, say no more, say no more...) ;p

Although mum and baby Chloe are still in hospital, the news is promising: our bub is improving with each day and has been guided by instinct on a more regular basis to the source of the primo stuff; mum's fit and healthy enough to lift a public transport bus with each arm and has proven to be the exception that disproves the rule where recovery from pain and suffering are concerned; dad's eyeballs are as red as a baboon's arse and he can't tell his anus from his funny bone, although the permanent smile stretched across his face negates any ill effects immediately associated with lunacy.

Send in the clowns!

In short, we've experienced the gamut of highs and lows in the space of five days and can't wait to be in the middle of the next phase of our life together: at home as a threesome, experiencing the mysterious joys of parenthood.

If you're a frequenter of this page, you've probably already deduced that the  present batch of photos of our little girl will continue. I'll try and keep it to one per day/night, although I'm likely to exceed the quota in the next forty-eight hours, sleep deprivation permitting.

Ooroo to you,

Sash, Lans and Chloe  xxxxxx
